HOBART TOWN. (From the Hobart Town Mercury —Nov. 21)
THE OABLB. v The following telegram was received yesterday by Alex. Macnaughtan, Esq. : — King's Island, Nov. 18, 10 a.in. I have taken sounding and grappled from the middle of Disappointment Bay to about a mile to the northward and eastward of the Navarino Reefs. I find a good landing-place with sand bottom ; there is a sandbank running to the eastward of the Navarino, which, however, may be avoided. G-. Savaob. The following telegram was received this morning : — King's Island, 19 Nov. Mr. Savage and party left yesterday at 5*15 p.m. for Circular Head and George Town. Wind east, and weather fine.
Mr. M'Naughtan informs us that the new landing place for the cable is now surveyed, and a steamer with the length of cable required to complete the line will shortly proceed from Melbourne to Victoria Cove. — Launce&ton Examiner.
