! AUCKLAND CHORAL SOCIETY. GRAND MUSICAL FESTIVAL. npHE Committee of the Choral Society respect- *- fully announce to the inhabitants of Auckland and its vicinity, that on an early day (to be hereafter named) A SPEGIAL MUSICAL FESTIVAL will be held, consisting of Morning and Evening performances. The programme, for one part of the Festival, will contain a selection of Secular Music; the other will be Handel's sacred Oratoria the "Messiah J! In addition to the full strength of the ordinary choir, the Committee anticipate for the occasion the valuable assistance of several talented musicians, both vocal and instrumental. UPPER SINGING CLASS. MECHANICS' INSTITUTE. MR. J. BROWN begs to inform his friends and pupils that he has made arrangements with the above Institution for forming a Class for the study of Part Singing, being a continuation of the Class on "Hullah fl System" he has had the pleasure of conducting. Persons wishing to belong to it are requested to send in their nam.es to Mr. Boyle, the Secretary of the Institute, without delay, as the Class will commence operations on the first Monday in June. Terms : For a year one guinea and a half for non-members Of the Institute, and a guinea for members. Payments in advance.
