THE Contractors for Bread and Forage having given the stipulated notice for discontinuing their Contracts — Tenders, in duplicate, will be received at this office, until noon of Tuesday, the 18th instant, for supplying Bread, at per pound. Forage, at per ration. The Ration of Forage to consist of— 81bs. Maize or Oats, (as required by the Commissariat.) 4 lbs. Bran. 12 lbs. Hay. 4 lbs. Straw. The Contracts tn commence on Ist July next, and terminate on 31st March 1859. The terms and conditions will be the same as those published in the { New-Zealander newspaper, of the 20th January last, inviting Tenders for the Annual Contracts. Printed Forms of Tenders to be had on application at this office. Offers not on printed forms will be rejected. H. Stanley Jones, Assistant Commissary General.

MECHANICS' INSTITUTE FESTIVAL. Proceeds to be Devoted to Library. TO BE HELD ON THE ANNIVERSARY OF HER MAJESTY'S BIRTHDAY, ON MONDAY, 24th OF MAY. THE Committee of Management have much pleasure in informing the Members of the Institute and Friends, that a Festival will take place as above. The Entertainment will consist of Vocal and Instrumental Music, Addresses, Recitation, &c. Aad Dancing will be permitted towards the close of the evening. The Refreshment Department will be under the charge of Mr. Canning. Single Tickets, 3s. Ticket for Lady and Gentleman, ss. Tickets procurable from the Secretary at the Institute; the Members of the Committee of Management, of Mr. G. T. Chapman and Mr. E. Wayte, Stationers.
