3rd. lOh. 40m. a.m. For Sailing Boats, under 3 tons, not working for hire. Any canvas. Ist prize, £15. 2nd £5. 3rd £3. Entrance 10s. 6d.

To start from the south side of the Flag Ship, passing on the south side of the flag boat, to be moored to the north of the west point of Freeman's Bay, thence across the 'harbour to a flag boat Jo be uirooed off O'Neill's point near Shoal Bay, passing north of said boat thence down to a flag boat to be moored to the north of Judge's Bay, pass to tbe north of that boat, round to the south, coming in on the south side of flag ship. Once round, i Time for keel 1 minute to the foot.

I Oth. lh. p.m. For Sailing Boats, above 3 and under 15 tons. Ist prize, £15. 2nd £5. Entrance 21s. As 3rd course. Time 1 minute per ton. Any canvas.

llth. lh. 20m. p.m. For Gigs, pulling 4 oars, Ist prize, £10. 2nd JGS. Entrance 15s. As Ist course reversed.

12th. 3h. Gig and Dingy (Duck hunt) to be started stern to stern, each boat to give 4 strokes ahead, then the man in the Dingy is to be caught by the bowman of the Gig within 20 minutes, the Dingy is to be kept out in the clear way as much as possible, and under the direction of the starter. Flag Ship subscription. Entrance 10s. 6d.

1 . The Entries to be made, with name and distinguish - ing colour of the Boats or Vessels at the Mechanics' Institute, on Saturday Evening, the 23rd of January, 1858, between 6 and 8 o'clock. Lots for position drawn from Bto 9. Tonnage of Vessels and length of main keel "to be named on entering, keel to be measured along the rabbit. 2. No post-entry allowed except for Vessels or Boats,

' not in port in time to enter. . 3. Each Boat in the various matches to carry a distinguishing Flag (at least a foot square) which must be kept flying at the main of Sail ing Vessels, and at the Bows of Rowing Boats, during the race. 4. No sailing Boat will be allowed to use oars, paddles, or poles, to take in or throw out ballast after starting, water ballast to be fresh, and to be examined on coming in at the discretion of the Umpire, open Cargo Boats not allowed to use wash streaks or cloths, no

scoops allowed to wet sails. 5. Boats or Vessels on the port tack to bear up for those on the starboard tack ; boats or vessels running free to keep away for boats on the wind, any boat or vessel wilfully fouling another to be considered distanced. ■ 6. Each boat or vessel to be anchored in a line with

mainsail scandalized and to slip anchors. 7- Disputes occurring in any of the matches must be made known to the Umpire as soon as possible after the 'race. 8. The decision of the Committee assisted by the Umpire shall in all matters be final. (5 to form a quorum.) 9. Boats tonnage to be calculated by the measurement of the 17th and 18th Vic, 104 Chap., 'and all boats shall if required, produce a certificate of their tonnage, under the hand of the proper officer at the time of entering. 10. Any deviation from these rules, will subjtct the aggressor to forfeit all claim to the prize. i Ijl. The Committee reservt to themselves the power to postpone the Regatta, should the weather prove unfavourable. Flag will be hoisted at 8 a.m. on board Flag Ship, if flag not hoisted as above, the Repatta will be postponed to the following day (Saturday.) ' 12, Three boats or ressels must start in every race, or no race. 13. Unless 5 boats or vessels start, no second prizes will be awarded. 14. A Ball will be hoisted at the main yard arm tenminutes before each race, as signal to take positions, each race will be started by the firing of a Gun, from Flag Ship. „:-- 15. Ist Gun to be fired from Flag Ship at half past 9a.m. to prepare for starting Ist race. 16. A Bugle will sound the "Recall" in the event of

an unfair start. 17. No boat or vessel to be allowed to enter for any match, vnles»the owner thereof be a subscriber to the Regatta Fund to the amonnt of at least 5) per cent, upon Ist prize in such match. No boat to be considered entered until the Entrance and subscription money be paid 1 . • The Committee respectfully request that all boats not racing will «ndearoar to keep clear of the Flag Ship on' the south aide, and the course generally, and abstain from hoistirig any flag at the main* lest the public I should* be misled.
