THEATRE ROYAL, AUCKLAND.
THIS Theatre will open for the Season early in November, under the direction of Messieurs T. S. Bellaib and William Hill, from the theatres of London and Edinburgh, Melbourne, and Sydney. Their high ambition will be to exhibit not "the mere outward show" of dramatic illustration, but the embodiment of the intellectuality of authors, whom "time will for ever honour." A talented company has been arranged, whose aim will be to blend instruction with amusement, "to hold as 'twere the mirror up to Nature, — to shew Virtue her own feature, — Scorn her own image, — and the very age and body of the Time its form and pressure." To the Legitimate Drama will be added Operatic and Melo-Dramatic Spectacles, and pieces of a lighter cast, that have public applause. Further particulars will be duly announced. Oct. 6th, 1857.
