Amusement for the Insane.
rPHE Provincial Surgeon begs to notify that he -*- * has purchased a Pianoforte, for the amusement of the inmates of the Lunatic Asylum, for the sum of £40, and hereby appeals to the benevolent public of Auckland to assist him in liquidating this debt, contracted solely with a view of alleviating the sufferings of these unfortunate creatures. As the Pianoforte is intended chiefly for the female portion of the establishment, he is particularly desirous of enlisting the sympathies of the Ladies on this occasion, and trusts they will not be wanting in their wonted philantrophy, and that they will use their influence to aid him in his endeavours to raise the sum necessary for that purpose. No fresh bills will be accepted from this date, only those accounts which were placed with the Undersigned since the departure of the deceased named party.
