Suowdon v. Busby. Before His Honor the Chief Justice and a Special Jury. This was an action to recover damages, laid at £500, for alleged false imprisonment. The action arose out of the Plaintiff having purchased gum of certain natives, \vhi eh was alleged to have been taken from the lands of Europeans. Tins case, which occupied the whole of yesterday, closed at 4 o'clock, when the Jury retired, and returned at a quarter to 6 o'clock. Verdict for the Plaintiff, damages £200.

A Provincial Government Gazette was issued on Monday last; tlie 4th inst. ; the following is a brief nummary of its contents :—: — A meeting of the Justices of the Peace for the districts of Onehunga, Panmure, and Otahuhu, is to be held at the Resident Magistrate's Court, Onehunga, on Monday, tlie 18th Juno, for the purpose of granting Slaughter- bouse licenses. Poisons desirous of obtaining licenses must give ten days' notice of their intention to appiy for such license, to the clerk of the Court. A Special Meeting of the Justices of the Peace residing within " the City of Auckland," " the Suburbs ot Auckland," " fche Pensioner settlements," " the Northern Division," and " the Southern Division," will be held at the Police Office, Auckland, on Monday, the 25th June, afc 10 o'clock, a.m., for the purpose of hearing and deciding all objections to claims to -the right of voting for the above distiicts for the ensuing year. The Inspector of Slaughter-housos publishes returns of the cattle slaughtered in the various districts, during the week ending the 26th May, 1855; these show that 37 head of cattle had been slaughtered during the week ; 5 of which, had no legible brand. Rules and regulations for the management of Public Slaughter-houses are published; one of the most important to the general public is "that the keeper or lessee, of every buch house ahaij,

The regulations to come into force on the sth day of June, mst. The Colonial Treasurer publishes a statement of tbe amount of coin held by tbe Auckland branch of the Colonial Bank of Issue, and the number and value of the notes of that bank in circulation on tbe 28th April last, from which it appears that the value of the Notes in circulation was £10,6n0 Coin bed by the Hank 4,034 The sum of £6,000 had been remitted to England for the purpose of being iuvested in British securities The Gazette also contains a detailed account of the revenue and expenditure of the Province of Auckland, for the quaiter ending March 31, 1855.
