The clipper ship Rock City, Capt. Cubbins, arrived in our hatbour on Sunday -last. She has made one of the shortest, if not the shortest, passage ever made to New Zealand ; the run out being accomplished in 88 days from the Downs. The Rock City sailed from Gravcscnd on the 4th of March, and the Downs on the

6th, sighted the Lizard on the lOth^crossed the Equator the 22nd day after leaving the Downs, was becalmed 5 days off St. Augustine, near Pernambucco, sighted Goughs Island on the 19th April. Ihe highest point of South Latitude reached was o2 ° ; o\ymg to the quantity of ice seen it was not thought prudent to proceed further to the Southward. Sighted the Middle Island of New Zealand on the 22nd of May, was bee timed 3 days, and experienced light variable winds during the passage to Cape Maria Van Dietnan, which was made on the morning of Friday last, from thence the wind has been light and mostly favourable. The greatest true distance run in three consecutive days was 939 miles. The Rock City is a British North American built vessel. She brings 19 passengers and about 850 tons of cargo, for this Port. The Sporting Lass has been 17 days on the passage from Sydney. • The Yarrow was the only vessel laid on at Sydney for The Elizabeth Mason and Ocean were both advertised at Melbourne, for this Port, when the Zillah sailed.
