Extract from " Olascow Citizen," of Feb. 25, 1854. — It is worthy of mention in connexion with the great fire in Union-street on Tuesday last, that one of Milners' fireproof safes — supplied by Messers. Boyd and Co., the Glasgow agents — was so placed as to be subjected to the full intensity of the heat, and when dug out of the ruins on Wednesday it was fouiwl that, although the brass handles, and in several places the soldering was melted its contents consisting of the books and a number of valuable papers were found to have sustained not the slightest injury.
