The long looked-for, and almost despaired-of, 11 Gwalior" has at length arrived ; having come into port yesterday morning, after an almost unexampled passage of 186 days. It was particularly gratifying to behold the deep interest evinced on Saturday last as the intelligence passed from lip to lip that the long missing vessel was tafe. The agreeable tidings were, that morning, conveyed to Auckland by the coasting schooner " Children,"-wbich spoke the barque some considerable distance off the land ; supplying her with nine gallons of water, and bringing on a portion of her mail, at well as several of her waited and wave- ! weary paiaengers. Why a staunch and good look- ; ing (dirt excepted) vessel of some 3 or 400 tons should have taken eight and forty hours longer than a schooner of 30 tons in performance of the self-same-paisige, is a puzzle which our nautical knowledge is altogether insufficient to evolve. It would be both imprudent and premature to offer any observation respecting the numberless rumours current, and the extraordinary reasons assigned for the tedious passage of the ship. Suffice it, for the present, that upon the arrival of the passengers by the " Children," a notarial declaration was made that the ship was destitute both of water and, provisions, (although she bad tonohed at the Cape, and sailed from thence only on the 24th of March,) upon which declaration her Majesty's surveying brigantine " Pandora," Capt. Drury, proceeded to her relief forthwith, and having, no doubt, missed her on Saturday night, is still absent in search. The clipper schooner, Marmora, Captain Riley, came into harbour in gallant style, on Friday afternoon, after a boisterous and harassing passage of 14 days from Port Nicholson. The Marmora made the eastern passage ; and although she sailed but two days subsequently to H. M. schooner Bramble, she experienced a constant succession of adverse winds, and heavy weather, losing her jib boom during the tremendous squalls acoompanying the fierce gale of the sth inst The Marmora is a remarkably fine vessel of 150 tons burthen, — one of the channel clippers, in fact. She now, we believe, hails from Wellington ; and it may not, therefore, be unworthy of a passing note, that she comes to Auckland in search of freighr.
