SUPREME COURT.— 16th July.

GOVEENOR GItEY'W. THE KaUWATJ COMPANY. The Chief Justice .delivered judgment yesterday, in this very important case, and after a most elaborate opinion, in which he touched upon every point "brought forward in the record or pleadings, by the Attorney General on behalf of Governor Grey, a decision, in favor of the Kauwau Company was pronounced, upholding the grant made by Captain Fitzßoy, as being just in itself, and in accordance with the law. There was a large muster of the land claimants and others, to hear the decision, as it was looked .to with double interest from a prevailing opinion, that the Kauwau 1 grant was more liable to legal quibbles than perhaps any other of Capt. Fitz ßoy's grants. The decision was therefore hailed with the greater interest and' satisfaction, as the very numerous parties holding similar grants may henceforth cease all further anxiety on the' score of their legality, and may bid Governor Grey and his Attorney General defiance. All their ingenuity has been of no avail. Justice has been triumphant, but the honor of the Crown in so far as it resides in the representative here, has been annihilated. The land claimants may rejoice that they possess a free and' independent Supreme Court' where the blind Goddess, preserves her integrity, uninfluenced and unawed by external 'authority. . We shall give the decision in our nest, meantime defer further remarks. The barque " Emma," which arrived here yesterday morning from Newcastle, brings 60 horses and 120 head, of cattle, having lost 12 of the former, and 40 of the latter on the passage. We see by our advertising columns that the cattle will be sold by Auction,' by Mr. Hyani Joseph, on Monday, and the 1 horses on Tuesday next.
