NEW ZEALAND FOOD FOR BRITAIN

LONDON. November 23.

The Minister of Food. Sir Ben Smith, in a speech at a lunch for the New Zealand Army Rugby team, said: “Though you are 12,000 miles away and despite the fact that you took over the feeding of the American troops in the Pacific on the basis that for every pound of meat you sent to them the Americans sent one pound to us, yet you sent to this country two-thirds of our butter; one-third of our cheese, and one-seventh of our meat. *1 think this is a pretty good effort for a small country. I thank you on behalf of the population of this country.”
