CAR SMASHES INTO POWER POLE

Two Occupants Make Off By Telegraph.— Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, October 28. A mystery, surrounds a car smash on the Main South Road between Rolleston mid Burnham about three o’clock on Saturday morning. A late model sedan ear smashed into a concrete power pole on the Christchurch side of the Rolleston oil dump intersection. A military guard from the oil dump nearby said he went to investigate the smash, and .saw two young men get out of the wreck and walk away. They told him they were going to obtain assistance, and made off toward Christchurch. ‘lhey have not been seen since. In the car was a full stock of food provisions and clothes and several full tins of petrol. ■
