AMMUNITION CONTROL LIFTED
AVith the cessation of hostilities the present aud future supply position was such that"it was no longer necessary to continue with the existing permit system for shotgun cartridges and ammunition. and all users could obtain their requirements from local retailers without the necessity of obtaining a permit from an inspector of stock, said tlic Alinister of Agriculture, Air. Roberts, yesterday. . “During the war years supplies. _of shotgun cartridges and .22 ammunition for civilian use were severely limited, said the Alinister. .“In order to ensure that those supplies were utilized for the destruction of pests, which were directly affecting primary production, arrangements were made for the introduction of a system of control whereby rabbit boards and farmers were required to apply to the nearest inspector of stock of my department for a. permit to enable ammunition to be obtained. That practice would no longer be necessary. “It will be appreciated that manufacturers may not be in a position to supply immediately either the many brands or the various gauges of shotgun cartridges previously on the market, but this will be rectified in due course as the changeover to peace-time production progresses. In some cases also it may be found that some dealers cannot execute an order immediately, but this will be due to the trade settling down and the time which must elapse before the manufactures and distributors can get supplies to dealers throughout the country.”
