During the month of August, Kanierl dredge returned 903 ounces for 477 hours and 227.000 yards; Arahura dredge, 1183 ounces, 501 hours. 251,000 yards. Kaiapoi Woollen Co., Ltd. The accounts of the Kaiapoi Woollen Manufacturing Co., Ltd., show for the year ended July 19 a not profit of £25,652. as compared with £21,597 in 1944 and £26,599 in 10-13. Gross earnings amounted to £187,956 in 1945 as against £176,871 in 1944. Dividend and bonus recommendations are unchanged, being 5 per cent, dividends and 1 per cent, bonus on both preference and ordinary shares. Total dividend requirements are £18,450. ’ The directors recommend the transfer of the unchanged sum of £5OOO to general reserve. and a carry-forward of £14,344 (£12,141 brought In). The directors’ report, to be presented to the annual meeting on September 12, states that production has contracted owing to fewer operatives being available. Civil production has increased substantially in volume, and ordnance work lias contracted.' Stocks nt £4311,285 show a considerable increase' over last year's figure of £308.005. but manufactured items represent only a small portion.
