COMMUNIST LEADER ARRIVES
Conference In Chungking (Received August 29. 7 p.m.) CHUNGKING. August 28. Mao Tze-tung and two other Communist leaders and Major-General I*. J. Hurley, the American Ambassador, have arrived in Chungking for discussions ou peaceful settlement of the internal difficulties. The correspondent of the Associated Press of America says that as the capital awaited the arrival of Mao Tze-tung, the Communist central committee, issued a manifesto demanding tile immediate formation of a coalition Government. The committee reiterated its demands that Communist troops should be given the right to disarm the surrendering Japanese forces, and that all National troops should be withdrawn from the territory round the Communist border region.
A communique from the Communist headquarters says that its troops have entered Shumchun, 30 miles north of Hong Kong, and are at present engaged in buttle with Japanese and puppet troops. Fighting is also occurring near Nanking and on the Shantung Peninsula.
