FILMS ON FRANCE

Au entertaining evening nt the French Chili in Wellington was arranged by Madam R. L. J. Finlayson, who opened' the programme with a brief descriptive talk 011 Hie films of France which followed. These included one of the classical ballet at the Paris Opera, starring Serge Lifnr, and one of Paris itself. Another portrayed the different French provinces, their costumes ami local activities. A fourth showed Paris during the last days of the German occupation and the operations of the resistance movement. By courtesy of the United States Legation, there were two other films, oue depicting rural art in America. Conversation classes were conducted by Mme. L. Logre and Miss S. Lawrence. Mrs. du Chateau and Miss Margaret McLay were the hostesses. Dr. Mackay presided.
