NEW GOVERNMENT “ILLEGAL”
London Poles Statement LONDON, June 26. The Polish Government in London has handed a declaration to all the Allied Governments except Russia, stating that tlie so-called Polish Provisional Government of National Unity is illegal. The declaration adds that the Government will hand over its authority solely to a Government formed on free Polish soil, which reflects the will of the people expressed in free elections. In spite of the Polish Government’s protests, contrary to all principles of international law. and contrary to the solemn declaration of the United Nations, a committee comprising the Foreign Minister of a country which annexed nearly half of Poland, and the British and American Ambassadors, had sanctioned a pesudo-Government imposed on the Polisli nation, which at present is under the occupation of an alien army and political police. The Vice-Premier of the Polish I rovisional Government, M. Gomolka, at a Press conference, denied reports that British and American recognition of the new Polish Government would be delayed till after an undertaking was given to hold elections. He said the British Ambassador, Sir Archibald Clark Kerr, told him that these reports were without foundation, and did not represent the British Government's attitude., There were no obstacles to recognition of I lie new Government ns soon as its composition was announced. , ~ , M. Gomolka added that there would he perfect freedom in the elections for all Democratic parties.
