More Staff For Porirua Hospital s
Subject to medical- examination, some 45 women will be available for service as mental nurses at the Porirua Hospital, it is stated. This will bring about a great easing in the situation there. Since the campaign to secure young women for this work commenced, inquiries have been received from 75 women. Information was sought by applicants not only from Wellington, but from Patea. Auckland, Takaka. Levin, Napier and Gisborne. The total of io includes 30 volunteers who were on the staff of the Ford Company at Lower Hutt. “A call up of women in the age group of 18-23 is now being undertaken by the district manpower office, with a view to securine voluntarily a further number who will form a pool from which vacancies caused through normal wastages will, he filled. The response to date is particularly gratifying, but it is hoped that a further substantial number will volunteer for this very important service.”
