A.I.F. IN PACIFIC
Tribute By American (Received June 13, .1.30 a.m.) NEW YORK, June 12. The New York “Herald-Tribune” in an editorial says: “The campaign to win Brunei’s oil and rubber is being conducted by rite Australians, who have done a good bit of tlie most difficult and costly fighting in the Pacific but have not received their share of the credit. lhe Australians are colourful, valiant warriors, but in recent months they have been in action in an area where there are few correspondents. They have been struggling to clean the Japanese out of the strongpoints by-passed by General MacArthur in New Guinea. This job. far behind tlie American spearheads on Okinawa and Iwojima, has been a blood.) affair but has had little attention. Now that the Australians have a spearhead of their own it is hoped their achieve _ meats will again have the recognition they so well deserve.”
