(By Telegraph ■ Press Association 1 AUCKLAND. Muy 23
A serious deterioration in the poultry food supply position is revealed in the drastic cut in supplies ordered by the Wheat Committee, which is the controlling authority for New Zealand. The committee has advised merchants that a new ration basis will come into force on June 1 based on the results of a poultry questionnaire issued some months ago. Bran ami pollard will be allocated as follows: —For a Hock of 300 birds and over, 1731 b. of pollard and 1001 b. of bran for every 100 birds monthly; for flocks of 100 to 299. 501 b. of pollard and 501 b of bran Iter 100 birds monthly: for flocks of 99 and under, 201 b. of pollard and 301 b. of bran tier 100 birds monthly, ’file committee points out that the allocations do not allow for increases or new flocks and absorb the whole of the available feed. City merchants today pointed out that the basis of rationing was much more s. ,-re on small Hocks than on large ones, 'i'iii- is regarded as unfair discrimination agaiiisl the small man. and is expected to cause great hardship.
