British Military Medal
The Governor-General has been ad Vised that the King has approved the immediate Sward of the Military Medal to Technician (sth Grade) Frank J Gudeyro, United States Army. The medal was presented on Saturday in the field at Luzon, by the senior British officer attached to General Douglas MacArthur’s headquarters iu the Philippines (Lieutenant-General C. H. Gardner, C’.8.8.L It is the first British operational award conferred vipOn a United States servieemiln in tlie Pacific upon the recommendaton of the Royal New Zealand Air Force.
The citation states that outstanding courage was displayed by this soldier, who was responsible for saving tlie life of n pilot of the Roval New Zealand AU Force whoso aircraft was burning furiously after a crash at Bougainville on August. IS. 1944.'
