Celebration Programme At Victoria League
• The eve of Empire Day wan'- celebrated by members of the Victoria League in Wellington with a special programme last night in the league rooms. Appropriate Selectious, arranged and compered ■ by Mr. Karl Atkinson, were attractively presented by Joan Bryatat, sograno. "Bessie Pollard, solo pianist, Joan Reid, elocutionist. am! the Victory Trubadours, conducted by Air. Clement Howe. A short lecture was given by Dr. O. C. Alazengarb, who recounted the story of the Victoria Cross. A dramatic e’plsode depicting the meeting between Queen Victoria and Prince Bismark iu 1888 was staged by Joan Reid and Karl Atkinson.
Among the many guests welcomed by the Victoria League president, Airs. J. A. Doctor, weer -Sir ..Harry Batterbee, High Commissioner in New Zealand for the tjnifed Kingdom, and Lady Batterbee. Mr. aud.Alrsfi G. Cocker, a representative of the Royal Empire Society,.tmd representatives from the Army. Committee members served supper in the league room, which was bright with bowls of inulti-coloured chrysanthemums'.

Au Empire' Day wreath will be placed at the base of Queen Victoria's staltte itt Kent Terrace this morning, and. all leagiie members are invited to bp present.
