DEALING WITH BROKEN MILK BOTTLES
Instruction To Roundsmen
“Milk delivery vehicles are supplied with the necessary appliances for the removal from the streets of broken milk bottles, said the general manager of the Wellington municipal milk department. Mr. E. L. Benseman, yesterday, replying to a' complaint by a correspondent, “Motorist,” about the quantity of broken glass lying about Wellington streets. ‘‘Motorist’ mentioned seeing five broken milk bottles lying in the roadway and he suggested that each delivery truck should be equipped with a broom and a nan so that the broken glass could be removed. The vehicles had had these appliances for some considerable time, said Mr. Benseman. and milk roundsmen were well aware of the danger attendant on the leaving of broken glass on the streets. “It is to be regretted.” he added, “that the instructions are not always carried out, though I know that numbers of the men are careful to see that broken bottles are not left lying about.”
