Results Of School Cadets Competitions

Dominion special Service. CHRISTCHURCH, December 13. The results of the annual secondary school cadet rlff'e shooting competition for challenge shields presented by the Christchurch Press Company, Ltd., have been announced by the Army Department, which has conducted the competition since 14117. This year the highest score lias been gained by a North Island team from the Huntly District High School, which obtained an average score of 55.3 points, ana wou the North Island shield aud a cash prize of ElO. The score was 44 points more than the score which won the competition last year. The South Island shield was won by a Christ’s College team with an average of 85.2 points. Eighty-one teams entered for the competition this year. Seventy-seven returned average scores of CO points or over, and 44 returned 70 points or over. After a lapse of four years the rille shooting competition for the Islington Challenge Cup lias been resumed and the winners for 1044 are No. 30 School Unit, Air Training Corps. (Nelson College), with ■S. score of CU.IK.’. Second and third places were also filled by teams from Nelson College. They were tne A Company and Headquarters Company teams with scores of 06.30 and 66.31 respectively.
