USED AS DWELLING
Erection Of Army Hut Without Permit “AVc have advertised that army huts are not. allowed to be erected and used as dwellings, on any condition without a permit,” said Cr. J. B. Yaldwyn, at a meeting of the Hutt County Council, yesterday, when councillors were considering a report from the council's building inspector on a building erected in Rauniati South, without a permit from lhe council. “If buyers do ereet army huts without a permit,” be added, ’then they must, be prepared to meet the consequences.” , , , It was staled that tlie dwelling had been built with two two-men army Inns to which the builder had added minor extensions to the back. Cr. laldw.'u said that it would not be fair to Ute people who had already been refused permits, if the owner iu the present case was allowed to be unrestricted. lie urged that the council should prosecute the builder concerned. ... Cr. J. Barclay mentioned that in fairness to the owner, he (Cr. Barclay) had seen army huts advertised in the Press as being suitable for weekend batches, and he added that many people were under the impression that army huts were permitted to be used, as temporary dwellings, and he wished it to be made clear that this was not the ease. The council adopted Cr. Yaldwyn s motion, that the owner of the building be prosecuted, and that the building be dismantled.
