NURSING CADETS

St. John Ambulance Competitions In spite of inclement weather in Wellington on Wednesday night, there was a full attendance of St. John Ambulance Brigade nursing cadets who had entered for the supplementary competitions in first aid and home nursing work. Two additional cups have recently been donated and were keenly contested. The Eden trophy for practical home nursing involved takinc and recording the pulse, temperature and x-espirations of a patient, giving a dose of medicine, making and applying a fomentation and giving a drink to a helpless patient. There were seven entries and a squad from Hataitai cadet nursing division (Shirley Monkhouse, Kathleen Piper, Morton, Leonora Matthews), gained 89 points. Island Bay cadet nursing division gaining a second place with 84 points. Sisters Grainger and Stevens judged this section and were agreeably surprised- at the standard of the work. 'l'lie second competition was to determine the nursing cadet division to compete with a team from the _ ambulance cadet divisions for the William Dutton Memorial Cup. There 'were also seven entries in this event. The test iu this case was of first aid nature and was won by Island Bay cadet nursing division (Cicely Mackie, Joan Caulton, Ula Parsons and Winsome Eyres), with 86 points, followed closely by Wellington eadet.nursing division with 85 points.
