TIDDIM CAPTURED
Burma Stronghold LONDON, October 19. The Fifth Indian Division of the 14ili Army has captured the mountain stronghold of Tiddim, key town on the way to the interior of Burma. A heavy air attack preceded the assault. Pressure is being maintained beyond Tiddim along the road leading to the Chindwin Valley.
A correspondent points out that heavy fighting is still in store in Burma, though the capture of Tiddim may well be the first phase of important developments of a new offensive.
