INSURANCE CLAUSE
Farmers’ Union Objection (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN. October 17. Exception to the insertion of a clause in State Advances Corporation mortgages granted to returned servicemen under the rehabilitation scheme to the effect that mortgagors must insure with the State Fire Office was taken by the Otago council of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union today. It was decided to request, the Dominion executive to protest to the Government on the mat ter. “It is an encroachment on an organization such as ours,” said Air. A. C. Cameron. For the last 40 years all Government departments had accepted without question farmers’ mutual insurance policies, and Parliament had approved legislation eight years-ago giving trustee companies authority to accept the policies.
