OBITUARY

Mr. J. D. McDougall The death occurred recently of Mr. James Dunean McDougall, Cole Street, Masterton, a well known resident of the Wairarapa district. Mr. McDougall was born at Rakaia in 1870, and he came to the North Island with his .parents as a child. His father, the late Mr. Duncan Meliougall, settled in the Hawke's Bay province, later residing at I’irinoa in 1875. After the death of his father Mr. McDougall took over the management of the Pirinoa and Sunnyside stations. He later farmed the Sunnyside property on bis own account. He was keenly interested in racing, being a successful owner and breeder. He was a member of the Wellington Racing Club, and the Masterton and Wairarapa Racing Clubs. He was a member of the Masterton Club and the Masterton Golf Club. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Misses Mary and Anne McDougall and one son, John McDougall. There are also two brothers, Messrs. W. R. McDougall and J. A. McDougall, all of Pirinoa, and two sisters, Mrs. E. Didsbury (Wellington) and Miss N. McDougall (Pirinoa). Mrs. R. C. Tennent Mrs. Robert Collings Tennent, daughter of the late Dr. Leonard Boor, of Wellington and Nelson, died in Wellington on Saturday in her 9.lst year. She arrived in Wellington in 1856 with her father, who took up land where Masterton now fjtands. lie gave up farming to resume practice of his profession in the Hutt Valley and later in Wellington. In the seventies he became medical superintendent of the Nelson Hospital, where he remained till liis death. Mrs. Tennent was married in Nelson to the late Robert Collings Tenueut. He was in the service of the Bank of New South Wales, and they lived, among other places, in I’iitca, in the pioneering days of Taranaki, Wanganui, Anekliuifl, Blenheim, Timaru. Dunedin, and Invercargill. He died fivf years ago. There are five sons still living; Major L. C, Tennent, Salisbury, Southern Rhodesia; Mr. 11. D. Tennent, Dunedin; Mr. H. C. Tennent, Honolulu; Mr. K. B, Tennent, Nelson; Colonel A. A. Tennent, Wellington. Another son. Mr. 11. V. Tennent. died in 1918. Two sons served in the Boer War. four in the Great War, and three in the present war. Surviving daughters are Airs. Wybrunls Olphert, Wellington, and Mrs. N. Bramson, To Araroa. The latq Mrs. I*. H. Mules. Woodville, was also a daughter. There are .18 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
