FAT LAMB EXPORT IN AUSTRALIA
Post-War Possibilities (Received October 2, 9.45 p.m.) CANBERRA, October 2. The fat lamb industry would play an important part in Australia’s post-war export trade, said the Minister for Commerce, Mr. Scully, today, announcing that the number of lambs slaughtered had increased from 8,580.000 in 1938-39 to 10.-19d.000 in 11943-44. In the period immediately before the war Australia and New Zealand supplied about 85 per cent, of their lambs to tht) United Kingdom market, which was practically the only available export market. It was most important, said Mr. Scully, that Australia’s fat lamb, export should be maintained at the highest possible level. f
