Kindergarten Fights With Half-Brother FOUL PLAY SUSPECTED Dominion Special Service. HASTINGS, October I.’ What is believed to have been a deliberate attempt to mischievously interfere with Kindergarten and his half-brother, Golden Souvenir, resulted la both horses suffering injuries for which they are now being treated. It is believed that at about 2.30 a.m. today some person unknown opened the doors of their boxes and let them run together in a yard which adjoins the main road. Evidently Kindergarten was the victor and his younger relative apparently struggled his way through a wire fenceto seek the refuge of the main road where he was found at dayhorses have suffered extensive abrasions, specially Golden Souvenir. The police are investigating. The horses were' bred and are owned bv Mr. E. N. Fitzgerald, Gisborne. Kindergarten made bis first appearance In public since January at the Hawke s Bay meeting on Saturday when he gave an exhibition gallop over five furlongs which he ran in 1.3 2-5. \ Golden Souvenir a three-vear-old half-brother by Lang Bian, ran second in the Flaxmere Handicap on Saturday. He is a horse of great promise and has engagements in the Wellington Guineas and tlie New Zealand Derby. It was intended to bring both horses on to the Masterton meeting next week as a prelude to racing nt Trenthatn. where Kindergarten’s mission was to be the Hnr. court Stakes and Golden Souvenirs the Wellington Guineas.
