ESPIONAGE CHARGE

Another Case Before U.S. Court (Received September 26, 8.30 p.m.) NEW YORK, September 25. The Federal Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Dutch-born former American merchant marine captain, Laurent Johannes Brackx, on charges of espionage. An F. 8.1. agent told the court that the Italian intelligence service sent Brackx Io the United States to obtain Radar plans. The Italian and German Governments' paid Brackx for his services through Italian women he took from Syria to Italy in 1941. Brackx admitted correspondence with several mail addresses in neutral countries furnished by Axis agents in the United States. Attorney McNally said Brackx was a graduate of espionage schools in Vienna and Rome. He held a commission in the United States Naval Reserve from 1941 to 19-12: but was relieved of his commission on in forma lion obtained by Naval intelligence. . Brackx pleaded not guilty.
