OBITUARY

Mr. P. E. J. Ebsworth

Tbe death occurred ou Friday of Mr. P. E. J. Ebsworth, sub-manager of the Wellington branch of the Bank of New South Wale’s for 15 years. Mr. Ebsworth, well known aud respected in commercial circles, was born in Australia, and joined the staff of the bank there in 1900. Before corniug to New Zealand, he had served the bank iu every State in the Australian Commonwealth, and also in Fiji, so that his experience was of the greatest value, to New Zealand as, well as visiting clients. He leaves a widow and one son, the latter being a member of the R..N.Z.A.F. Mrs. B. M. Sullivan The death occurred on Thursday morning at her residence, 42 Roxburgh Street, Wellington, of Sirs. Bridget Mary Sullivan, widow of the late Mr. Henry Sullivan, formerly a well-known business man in the capital. She was chiefly known through bet- many quiet acts of charity and kindness, and the fnet that, site was for half a century an ctiergelic and generously-disposed worker in connexion with Catholic philanthropic activities iu Wellington. She was born in County Tipperary. Ireland, iu 1®55, and came to New Zealand iu IS7I by tbe ship Edwin Fox. Mrs. Sullivan is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Oscar Ellis, Dublin, Ireland, and Miss Cecilia Sullivan, Wellington, and one son, Mr. Henry Sullivan, Wellington. There are three grandchildren, Mrs. Molly Lynch, Faraparaumu. Mrs. Patrick Murray, Dublin, and the .Rev. Father Stead Ellis, also in Ireland.

Requiem Mass was celebrated by the Rev. Father lleavey in St. Joseph’s Church, Ruckle Street, yesterday morning. in the presence of a large congregation. His Grace Archbishop O’Shea was in the sanctuary, and there were also present several representatives of the various religious orders in Wellington.
