AWARUA BY-ELECTION
Warrant For Issue Of Writ
Official steps to fill the vacancy in the House of Representatives caused by the death of the member for Awarua, Brigadier J. Hargest, were taken in, the House yesterday. A motion submitted by the Prime Minister. Mr. Fraser, that Mr. Speaker be directed to issue bis warrant to the Clerk of Writs to make out u writ for the election of a member to represent the Awarua electorate was approved.
POLLING ON OCTOBER 28 The polling day for the Awarua byelection has been fixed for Saturday, October 28, stated' the Prime Minister, Mr. Fraser, last evening. Nomination of candidates will close on Wednesday, October 11. The supplementary roll will close at 6 pan. on Friday, September 29. Forms of application for enrolment by persons qualified to register as electors are available at any post office or from the office of the Registrar of Electors, Winton. Applications should be completed in time for delivery to the registrar not later than 6 pan. ou September 21).
