SURVEYORS IN WAR
Service With Artillery New Zealand’s artillery was considered to be the best in the world. The procedure which it had instituted, particularly for night shooting, had become standard throughout the British Army. Surveyors from this country serving with the batteries in the Middle East, could claim a good deal of the credit for evolving and perfecting that system, said the Minister of Lands and Rehabilitation, Mr. Skinner, addressing the annual meeting of the New Zealand Institute of Surveyors in "Wellington yesterday. He said be knew the value of I lie work done by the members of the surveying profession serving overseas.
'The Minister added that he considered the surveying and engineering professions to be the finest in the world. Speaking of tlte work of the surveyors serving with the New Zealand artillery units in the African campaign, he said they had done wonderfully accurate work in flashspotting and ranging by sound.
