WINTER-TIME SOCIALS
Given For Hard Of Hearing During the winter term, monthly socials have been held at the Hard-of-Hear-ing League rooms iu Wellington. In May a bright programme, arranged by Air. Cousins and Mrs. Newlands, designed to give an insight info the workings of “radio station 2BO” was presented, following an opening violin item by Aliss Noleen Parker. The league's ninth birthday was celebrated on June 20 with a gala party attended by more than SO members. Games, competitions and conjuring tricks performed by Air. Lindsay added to the enjoyment. Alembers of the league were entertained last month by their own playreading circle which has recently been formed. Three one-act plays and _ a short sketch were presented, those taking nart being Alesdames AlcGlashan-Smith, Turner, O’Callaghan, Alagee and Richardson, Misses Atack, Purdie. Pedersen, Hay and Mayo, and Mr. Elvines. The performances were thoroughly enjoyed by all present. This month’s entertainment took the form of moving pictures operated by Mr. I. Wilson. The films were both amusing and educational and their-pre-sentation was appreciated.
