SERVICE DOCTORS
Rehabilitation Plans A plan for the rehabilitation of doctors and medical students who have served in the armed forces is in course of evolution by the Dominion headquarters of the British Medical Association in Wellington, working iu association with its district branches. Some doctors who have returned from overseas have already been assisted in finding positions lor which they have expressed preference, while all members of the association still overseas have been asked to indicate thier post-war requirements. There are several hundred doctors with the forces, and as was the case after the last war, they wilt return with certain handicaps to be overcome before they are' successfully rehabilitated into civilian practice. It was stated by Dominion headquarters of I.he H.M.A. yesterday that, since service doctors would gain excellent experience in dealing with accidents, wounds, and general sickness among men but would in general know little about treating women and children, the district post-graduate . committees had held courses in tiie latter and more were scheduled. It was hoped to establish in Wellington n central bureau at which a returning doctor could be interviewed and every assistance. given him in finding the position which would suit him. Some might want practices, others might wish to gain more experience in hospitals, and still others might aim at becoming specialists. It was hoped to be able to satisfy the needs' of all of these. Several returned doctors have already been placed in hospitals, and steps are ■being taken to widen the scope of the scheme.
