GARRISON GIVES IN

Daring Raid In Dodecanese CAIRO. July 23. It is announced that specially-trained British and Greek shock troops liquidated the entire garrison on the enemy-held Simi Island, in the Dodecanese, as the result of one of the most daring and most successful raids ever undertaken in the eastern Mediterranean. Fifteen of the garrison, which included Germans and Italians, were killed and 150 taken prisoner. All military installations and equipment were destroyed. Our losses were very slight. The lauding was made at night, and took the enemy by surprise. Light naval eraft nosed into the harbour and carried out a bombardment, and after a sharp fight the garrison surrendered.
