BETTER RELATIONS WITH RUSSIA
(Received .Tulv 21, 8.10 p.m.) NEW YORK. July 23.
The invasion and the establishment of American shuttle-bombing bases in Russia have resulted in noticeably improved diplomatic relations between the British, American and Russian Governments, says tlie New York “Herald-Tribune's” London correspondent. Prior to the second front many dealings witli Russia, though friendly, were formal, and a certain atmosphere of reserve tended Io prevent most effective collaboration. The invasion, however, has changed the picture. The lingering, natural Russian suspicion of the Allies’ good faith was swept away when the Allies made good the second-front pledge. The shuttle bombing is also regarded ns a valuable contribution to psychological warfare. It is pointed out that no better evidence of Allied unity could be presented titan the American planes taking off from British bases, and bombing Germany cn route to Russia.
