BLITZ ON KIEL
Well Over 2500 Tons LONDON, July 24.
Heavy bombers from Britain last night gave Kiel, headquarters base o£ the German Navy, one of the.greatest attacks it has had in this War. Well over 2500 tons of bombs were dropped at a rate of up to 150 tons a minute. Very large fires were left burning, and one bomb-aimer reported a colossal explosion which he thought might have been a direct hit on the naval arsenal. Mosquitoes again bombed Berlin, and other units attacked an unspecified target in the Ruhr.
