Democratic Nomination For Vice-President (Received July 23, 7 p.m.) NEW YORK, July 22. The first. Vice-Presidential ballot at the Democratic convention at: Chicago resulted : Mr. WalliKie. 429: Senator Truman. 413. A second ballot was taken because there were insufficient votes for either candidate to ensure a nomination. U’’ 8 resulted: Senator Truman, 1109; Mr. Wallace, 66; Mr. Douglas. 4. Senator Truman immediately addressed the delegates, accepting the “responsibility to help shorten the war and win the peace under the leadership of our great President.”

The nomination came as a climax to one of f he bitterest, fights in the Democratic Party, but Mr. Wallaee declared: “I am happy the cause of Liberalism has been advanced by Senator Truman’s nomination.” The convention adjourned sine die.
