HERITAGE MOVEMENT
National Conference Tomorrow
The first national conference of .Heritage will open in Wellington tomorrow, and at the invitation of the GovernorGeneral will be held at Government House. It will be presided over by the president, Mr. Justice Smith, and will be officially opened by his Excellency, who is its patron.
Heritage branches are now established in each of the four main centres, and in a number of the principal provincial towns. Delegates from branches outside Wellington, who have notified their intention to be present at. the conference, will come from Auckland, North Taranaki, Hamilton, Wanganui, Palmerston North, Canterbury. Marlborough, and Otago, lu addition, an observer .will attend representing South Taranaki, where a branch is likely to be formed in the near future. One of the principal objects of the conference will he to elect an executive for Heritage (Incorporated), the parent body which will act as a co-ordinating agency for the various branches of the movement. It is also hoped that as a result, of the conference, plans will be completed for seeing that every child who comes within the scope of Heritage, wherever ho may be in New Zealand, will be dealt with. Some of these children, sons and daughters of men who have given their lives in the war. live far afield in the backblocks. but the services of the movement will be brought to them wherever may be.
