RADIO APPEAL
Au official closely connected with the Dominion-wide radio and telephone patriotic fund appeal on Saturday night says that the monetary response of the various provinces should not be compared one against the other, for the reason that different methods of collecting money were adopted in each province. For example, in Wellington au appeal, most generously responded to, was made to tho large business concerns of the city only a fortnight or three weeks ago. and if the amount then collected were added to Wellingtons Saturday total it would mean a considerable increase and less disparity with other provinces. . „ , > An explanation of the small Last Coast total of £703 raised in the radio appeal on Saturday night was given by Mr. M. J. White, secretary of the East Coast council, who pointed out that before the appeal £15.000 had been collected of the quota of £20.500. representing 75 per cent’., states a Press Association message. People who promised a donation in response to the radio appeal on Saturday night are asked by the Wellington Metropolitan Patriotic Committee to forward their subscriptions immediately. A list of the receiving offices in the different districts is advertised.
