Germans Resist Fifth With Reinforcements PLANE-CARRIER HARD HIT (By Telegraph.—Press Assn.— Copyright.) (Received June 22, 1.30 a.m.) LONDON, June 21. The Eighth Army has captured Crottamara, 40 miles from Pescara, and also San Bebedetto del Tronto, reports Algiers radio. Advanced elements of the Eighth Army reached Ascolipiceno. Other Eighth Army forward troops, are , now five miles north-east of Perugia. Northwest of the town an Eighth Army force has occupied high ground, including Montemalve, and further to the west forces are astride Highway 71 north-east of Lake Chiusi. The town of Chiusj has been cleared of the enemy.
The Germans on the main Fifth Army front have thrown ip seven divisions in an attempt to check the Allied advance. The Americans on this front captured Monte Pescgli. dominating the junction of Highways 71 and 73. The enemy, aircraft-carrier which was attacked in Genoa harbour was a 20,000tonner. Pilots report that the carrier was severely damaged.
