Commissioner Appointed

The appointment of Mr. J. Caradus as Commissioner of Stamp Duties, Registrar of Companies, and Secretary tor Land and Deeds was announced yesterday by the Minister of Education, Mr. Mason, who is administering the portfolio of Stamp Duties during the absence overseas of Mr. Nash. Mr. Caradus succeeds Mr. P. G. Pearce, whose retirement will take effect early next month, and who in the meantime is on leave. Mr. Caradus has had all his service in the Land and Deeds and Stamp Duties Departments, He joined the Land and Deeds Office in Auckland in 1907 and remained in that office till 1919, when he was appointed district land registrar and Assistant Commissioner of Stamp Duties at Blenheim. Similar appointments at Nelson and New Plymouth followed, and m November, J 937. Mr, Caradus was made Reg-istrar-General of Land and district ’pnu registrar at Wellington. He la relinquish; inp- that position to take over his new post. Mr. Caradus is a solicitor of the Supreme Court of New Zealand.
