WILLIAMSON’S COMEDY SEASON
Tonight and tomorrow night J. L. Williamson’s all-star comedy company wiu present tiie two final performances of tire entertaining comedy-drmna. “Arsenic anil Old Lace.” On Saturday afternoon ami ni-lit and all next week, the company will appear in the provocative comedy, “Susan and God.” YVhile New Zealanders were privileged to see the screen version of June Ci-other’s brilliant play.. Australian censors banned the film, and it was only after many applications to tiie powers-that-be in Australia that tiie play itself was allowed to lie presented. I'or the New Zealand tour playgoers uro to see Miss Neva Carr Glvn in one of the greatest roles ever written for a female star. Mr. Lloyd Lnnible will portray a most colourful part ns Susan's husband, n role which provides unlimited scope for his great powers of characterization. The cast includes: Frank Bradley. John Tate. Bettina Welch. LUv Moore. Allan Christie. Ruth Montgomerie. June Mendoza. Alan Rankin, mill other notable people. Box plans are at tiie D.I.C.
The Wellington Provincial Patriotic Council and the Metropolitan Patriotic Committee deeided at their last meeting, Mr Hislop presiding, that the newspapers should be advised that their representatives would be welcome at the meetings, said the honorary secretary. Mr. V. Ward M.L.C., last night. The new chairman, Mr. Appleton, held the same view, said Mr Ward. Six months ago the committee decided that rather than keep the Press at their lengthy meetings, reports would be supplied. Tiie result was that they also discontinued attending the monthly council meetings
