OBITUARY
Mr. George Gunn
The death occurred in 'Wellington op Monday of Mr. George Gunn, who was particularly well known among the Scottish community. Born in Caithness, Scotland, in 1896, he was educated in bis native land, and when war broke out in 1914 he enlisted and served for three years with the 51st Highland Division. During the campaign he was decorated with the Military Medal for conspicuous gallantry at Neuve Ch.-ipelle. After the war he emigrated to Canada, and later, in 1925, he arrived in New Zealand, ami joined the stuff of the electricity department of the Wellington City Corporation. ... Mr. Gunn was an enthusiastic and active member of all Scottish societies, and served on the executive of the Gaelic Club for a lengthy period. As a violinist, he was an outstanding exponent of Highland music. He is survived by his wife and young family of two sons and three daughters. Thi-re was a large attendance at his funeral yesterday. Scotsmen were present in large numbers, and a piper played a lament at; the graveside.
