Slavonic A Bargain Slavonic, who scored the the history of tho New Zealand Sapling Stakes, for two-year-old pacers, ru " Ashburton on Monday, is likely to prove a great bargain. He wa s purchased as a yearling from the estate of the late W. J. Morland, who bred him, for 175 guineas. He is a half-brother by Lusty 1010 to Highland Scott and Scottish Lady, both classic winners, . He led all the way to win easing up by eight lengths. His task was made easy by Bohemian and Czardas losing ground at the start. Bohemian made another break with a turlong to go, and Czardas nearly choked himself by (lulling too hard. 'Worthy Gold, Jack’s 'Son ami Admlration followed Slavonic closely tor a mile and a quarter, where Slavonic drew away from them. Worthy Gold tired badly m the straight. Jack’s Son went a good race to get second. Although Admiration bad had enough a long way from the y' nn)n J’ post, she got third, being 18 lengths behind Slavonic when lie crossed the line.
