SYDNEY, June S.
The Americans on Biak Island, off Dutch New Guinea, have captured the Mokmer airfield. A surprise encircling movement took the Japanese defences in the rear and the enemy went routed from the airfield with onlj- light losses to the attackers. Patrol clashes at Maffin Bay, Dutch New Guinea, and west of Aitape, British New Guinea, cost, the Japanese about 200 killed. Allied planes destroyed enemy barges and parked aircraft in the Geelvink Bay area, Dutch New Guinea.
